i2i International Soccer Academy

The i2i International Soccer Academy offers students the exciting opportunity of studying for a Sports Science (Strength and Conditioning) degree, whilst focusing on their development as a soccer player.

Or football, as we call it over here in England!

The three-year BSc Hons degree is delivered by the prestigious York St John University – where the syllabus has been specifically designed to ensure transferability worldwide.

This academic study runs alongside a full-time Soccer Development Programme, which enables students to train five days a week in a professional environment.

The timetabling of lectures and soccer development is meticulously planned to maximise the contact time in the classroom and on the pitch.

Our experienced coaches, who have worked for English Premier League clubs, work closely with each individual player – with a view to helping them pursue a career in the industry.

Through the i2i Sports Soccer Agency, we are able to showcase players’ talents and explore any opportunities of signing professional contracts with both British and international clubs.

Students may also be invited to play semi-professional soccer with i2i Sports’ very own club Tadcaster Albion who currently play in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

i2i Soccer Coaching

There’s no better place in the world to play the beautiful game than England.

Birthplace of soccer (and David Beckham), our coaches and facilities are amongst the finest in the world.

We offer the highest quality coaching outside of the professional game, and we guarantee to significantly improve the ability of every single player – with a view to helping them pursue a sports-related career.

Our coaches at the i2i International Soccer Academy are fully qualified UEFA licensed coaches who have worked at a range of professional clubs including Manchester City and Leeds United.

Due to our contacts within the soccer world, we are able to assist players with finding teams - whether this be at a professional, semi-professional or local level.

Any players who are identified as having the required skill and ability to compete in professional soccer, will be offered an agency contract with i2i Sports and given the opportunity to take part in trials or showcase events with professional clubs all over the world.

All players with the i2i International Soccer Academy will be available for selection with the highly respected York St John University teams that compete in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues.

Alongside game time on a Wednesday afternoon, students will also have the opportunity to play for soccer teams during the weekend.

Education at York St John University (YSJ)

At the i2i International Soccer Academy, we recognise that a player’s education is equally as important as their soccer development.

We work hard to develop a player’s ability, whilst also ensuring every individual gains the qualifications needed to prepare them for a range of careers – both inside and outside the world of soccer.

We work in partnership with the highly regarded York St John University (YSJ), which was shortlisted for the prestigious “University of the Year” award in 2013.

YSJ was also rated in the top 20 institutions with the highest student satisfaction scores for teaching quality (Sunday Times University Guide, 2013).

Sport at YSJ is taught by a team with expertise across the diverse disciplines associated with the study of sport, covering all forms of physical activity.

We work closely with the department to meticulously plan our timetables in order to maximise a student’s contact time in the classroom and on the soccer pitch.

The university has a stunning campus, which is just minutes from the historic city centre of York. Its 11 acre site is in a beautiful setting - facing the world-famous York Minster across the city walls.

Latest figures show that 92.4% of York St John graduates were in employment or full-time study six months after graduating.

Accommodation

Every player on the i2i International Soccer Academy is guaranteed accommodation within the halls of residence at YSJ.

YSJ has a wide-range of excellent student accommodation, which is all located within walking distance of the university itself, its ‘state of the art’ sports facilities and the historic city centre.

We have secured top floor en-suite rooms in the university’s brand new halls of residence with views of the historic City of York.

Facilities

All players in the i2i International Soccer Academy will have full access to YSJ’s ‘state of the art’ sports facilities.

The university is home to a wide range of grass and 3G soccer pitches,as well as facilities for basketball, netball, badminton, indoor soccer, cricket and volleyball. There is also a first class strength and conditioning suite which is used by both professional athletes and elite students to develop fitness. The Sports department has laboratories for physiology, biomechanics (with a Kissler Force Platform), psychology, physiotherapy and a fitness suite.

There is also a video analysis suite, which enables us to film and analyse all i2i Academy games. This cutting edge technology gives us a dynamic and unique insight into the team’s performance, enabling us to unlock the potential of every player.

The YSJ lecture rooms, library and sports labs are only a 15 minute walk from its 3G and grass pitches. In fact, the unofficial running record between the two sites is 5 minutes, 59 seconds.

Why York?

York is a beautiful medieval walled city with a rich heritage and fantastic history. The city has provided the backdrop to many major political events in England throughout its 2000 years of existence.

As a popular tourist destination, it is home to hundreds of attractions, museums, historic buildings, tours, shops, restaurants and bars. It is perhaps most famous for York Minster which is the largest gothic cathedral in Northern Europe.

York is an extremely friendly city, which is big enough to have a professional soccer and rugby team, but small enough to be able to walk everywhere. And when it comes to exploring the UK, London and Edinburgh are both two hours away on the train.
